Archiving Specialist and Global Leader in Data Connectivity Announce Successful Collaboration to Enhance Accessibility of Highly Compressed Archive Stores

Slough, UK — DataDirect Technologies, the unparalleled leader in data connectivity and mainframe integration and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), today announced that archive specialist, Clearpace Software is using the DataDirect® OpenAccess™ software development kit (SDK) and runtime software components to enable standards-based data connectivity to its NParchive product from any specialized data source or application. Using the custom driver created with the DataDirect OpenAccess SDK and runtime software components, Clearpace customers can connect thousands of existing applications to NParchive making it quick and easy to respond to audit, business and regulatory inquires against long-term, archived data.

NParchive is an extreme data compression product that enables organisations to simply store petabytes of historical data in a fraction of the storage space required for that same data in production environments – helping organisations reduce storage and operational costs, secure historical data and simplify information discovery. Since its release, NParchive has become the optimal destination for inactive data that resides within production databases, data warehouses or log files. It compresses data 20 to 60 times, while keeping archived data online, time-proofed and immutable.

Partnering with DataDirect Technologies allowed Clearpace to avoid the time and resource draining challenge of managing technology outside of its core competence while ensuring its customers required no special tools to query archived data. By using the DataDirect OpenAccess SDK and runtime software components, NParchive users are provided with standards-based access to non-standard data. NParchive users can rest easy knowing their inactive, archived data is readily available for supporting information discovery requests arising from regulatory investigations, litigation, internal audits or business analysis.

Tim Waterton, VP Alliances, Clearpace said: “Working with DataDirect Technologies has enabled us to provide great value to our customers, helping them achieve long-term retention and retrieval of information while reducing the cost and complexity of data storage. NParchive is a stronger platform by enabling archived data to be easily accessed by existing Business Intelligence or reporting tools including Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Cognos and Microstrategy.”

The DataDirect OpenAccess SDK and runtime software components enable software developers and architects to quickly create custom drivers for any data source within weeks, making proprietary data sources, file formats or APIs, SQL accessible from ODBC, JDBC™, OLE DB or ADO.NET compliant applications. The DataDirect OpenAccess SDK can also be used to add standards-based connectivity on top of an existing SQL engine or to customize an existing driver. More than 100 ISVs and corporations have used the DataDirect OpenAccess SDK to achieve standards-based access to proprietary APIs and data formats quickly and cost effectively.

Terence Cooke, Vice President of International Sales, DataDirect Technologies commented: “It’s said that for most critical systems 85 percent of data is often inactive. We are delighted to partner with an innovative company like Clearpace to help companies better manage storage consumption and costs while maintaining an unimpeachable view of historical information that can be easily accessed and used as the business requires.”
