2009 “Green Hammer Award” Winner Recycles Almost Everything
“Imperial Seamless Gutter recycles materials, buildings, and more!”
When the votes were counted, WorkingPerson.com visitors picked Michael Quick, a small business owner in Belvedere, New Jersey, as the 2009 Green Hammer Award winner.
Timberland PRO and The Working Person’s Store created The Green Hammer Award to recognize the efforts of working people everywhere to recycle, reuse and reduce waste on the job, in businesses both large and small. Mr. Quick will receive $1,000 in name brand work apparel and footwear from the contest sponsors.
Mr. Quick and his wife operate Imperial Seamless Gutter with the clear objective of minimizing their company’s impact on the environment. “When I read the ‘Green Hammer Award’ contest guidelines, it felt like I was reading my company manual” said Mr. Quick,
“We grew tired of seeing waste on jobsites and of America’s ever growing ‘disposable mentality’. We decided our company would be different. We specialize in installing seamless rain gutters and leaf protection systems in northern NJ and eastern PA. The old systems we remove get 100% recycled and the new systems we install come mostly from recycled aluminum and copper components. Our tools get refurbished and sharpened, our trucks are super efficient diesels, and we even recycle the cardboard boxes our material comes in. At the end of a busy week, we have only one small garbage can of waste to dispose of. Our warehouse is part of a restored train depot and our office is located in our home which is a restored piano warehouse"
“We purchase work apparel from workingperson.com. They really know what the American worker needs - quality, affordability and excellent customer service. We are proud to support a business that holds true to the same ideals we do.”
“These days people understand the importance of conservation and sustainability” said Eric Deniger, CEO of Working Person’s Store. “The purpose of The Green Hammer Award is to recognize the contribution of working people to help us build a more sustainable, environmentally friendly way of life.”
“We’re proud to partner with the Working Person’s Store in sponsoring The Green Hammer Award” said Susan Emerick, Marketing Manager of Timberland PRO. “This initiative is in line with Timberland’s focus on finding grassroots organizations to partner with that are also committed to sustainability, reusing and recycling materials, educating participants, and encouraging carbon neutrality in an effort to improve the communities in which we live and work.”
