BroadSoft Joins GSMA Rich Communication Suite Group

GAITHERSBURG, MD .- BroadSoft, Inc., the leading worldwide provider of VoIP applications, today announced that it has joined the GSM Association’s Rich Communication Suite (RCS) program, which is an initiative of more than 60 leading mobile operators and handset and infrastructure vendors focused on facilitating the adoption of RCS applications and services.

Built on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platform, RCS enables interoperable enriched communication between devices and networks. The RCS program has defined a core feature set of RCS, which includes the following services:

* Enhanced Phonebook, with service capabilities and presence-enhanced contact information
* Enhanced Messaging, which enables a large variety of messaging options including chat and instant messaging
* Enriched Call, which enables multimedia content sharing during a voice call
