UPS Airlines Honored as 2009 "Cargo Airline of the Year"

LOUISVILLE - On the eve of UPS’s 21st anniversary as an air carrier, its airline division is being honored as the 2009 “Cargo Airline of the Year” by a leading industry publication.

Each year, Air Transport World magazine recognizes the world’s top airlines with its prestigious Industry Achievement Awards. The publication selected UPS Airlines this year for its history of successful global growth, expansion into heavy freight, commitment to safety and technological innovation.

“Whether it is the way it sorts parcels at Worldport in Louisville or the way it operates its aircraft to achieve peak safety and efficiency, UPS Airlines has distinguished itself as an innovator,” wrote Perry Flint, the editorial director of Air Transport World.

UPS’s two decades of aviation accomplishments will be celebrated by Air Transport World and industry guests at a Feb. 17 ceremony in Washington, D.C.
