Leading African telecommunications operator implements Harris digital microwave radios for central region expansion project

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina, January 30, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global supplier of wireless equipment and services, today announced that Telkom Kenya, the largest telecommunications operator in Africa, has selected Harris microwave digital radios to expand its infrastructure through the entire central Kenyan area. Harris TRuepoint™ and Megastar® 155 PX radios will be used in a digital upgrade designed to improve voice and data services for existing customers and extend services throughout central Kenya.

“The implementation of Harris microwave radios will enable many communication improvements across Kenya,” Sammy K. Kirui, Managing Director of Telkom Kenya, explained. “Internet access will be more widely available and VoIP will also become accessible for the first time, creating alternative, modern methods of communication for the area. In addition, the digitization of the network will provide uninterrupted service and signals that are clear and more secure signals.”

The expanded network will provide a high level of customer service, including minimal dropped calls, low network failure rates and reliable delivery of data and multimedia services, all of which are priorities stated by Telkom Kenya. Harris also will provide local support from planning through implementation.

“The demand for mobile services in Kenya is increasing rapidly, and Telkom Kenya requires a flexible, reliable network to meet this demand,” commented Joseph Joseph, Harris Microwave Communications Division’s managing director for Middle East and Africa. “Harris is proud to help build a solid and reliable network across Kenya and assist Telkom Kenya in reaching its corporate objectives of rapid growth and excellent customer service.”
