Barnhart Inc Completes Corfman Middle School
McCabe Union School District and contractor Barnhart, Inc. announce the completion of Corfman Middle School in El Centro, California.
The new $18 million campus eases overcrowding at the adjacent McCabe School campus. The new school accommodates 600 students in grades 4-8. Features of the new campus include 24 classrooms, science labs, library, multi-purpose room with stage and band room, state-of-the-art technology, kitchen and food service facilities, sports courts and athletic fields.
The new school was designed by Sanders, Inc. Architects.
The school is named after Altae Mae and Virgil Corfman of El Centro. Virgil Corfman is a long-time Imperial Valley farmer and rancher. The family donated the land required for the new school. Construction of the project was funded by developer fees.
Team members for McCabe School District included Amanda Brook, superintendent. Barnhart staff included Layne Arthur, Dave Roach, Marty Ashby, Rebecca Greer and Joe LaGrange.
Barnhart, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Heery International, a 1,500 person architecture, interior design, engineering, facility management, program management and construction management firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. Barnhart is the third largest educational builder in the nation, according to Engineering News Record magazine when combined with Heery International. Barnhart has constructed various facilities in the Imperial Valley, including Cesar Chavez Elementary School for Calexico Unified School District.
