BlackBoxx IAQ Monitors Help Solve Australian Hospital’s Air Quality Problems

KD Engineering’s new IAQ monitoring technologies begin use ‘down under’ and are also awarded PAC approval for importation into China.

When a sprinkler system activated in a records storage room in a large hospital in Australia stacks of paper records and building materials became waterlogged. The damage however was not just limited to material objects; in short order 8 employees of the hospital came down with various medical conditions related to exposure to mold growth.

One of Australia’s leading environmental companies was hired to investigate the situation and help return the records department to healthy conditions. As part of their efforts the company is now incorporating a revolutionary new piece of air monitoring technology known as the BlackBoxx. Developed by professional engineers at KD Engineering, the BlackBoxx will help ensure that even after the cleanup the air will be continually monitored to ensure occupant health and safety.

The BlackBoxx is a two function instrument meant to work in conjunction with the popular shAirBoxx IAQ monitors. Up to 16 individual shAirBoxxes in a building can be connected simultaneously with just one BlackBoxx to measure various air quality parameters.

The BlackBoxx also has the ability to upload data directly to the internet. Upload options include a data-hosting website or the BlackBoxx can be configured to communicate with a corporate website or intranet. The website can be configured to send email alerts based on specific parameters and also transmit an alert if one or more monitors go offline. In fact, KD Engineering employees were able to see in real-time, from their offices in the United States, when an employee in Australia took a smoke break in one of the areas being monitored.

KD Engineering was also recently awarded PAC approval. The Pattern Approval Certificate (PAC) of Measuring Instruments of the People’s Republic of China now allows for air monitoring equipment from KD Engineering to be imported into China. To learn more please visit www.teamkd.com.
