Application for the delisting of Alcatel-Lucent shares from Frankfurt Stock Exchange

Paris – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced it has submitted an application for the delisting of its ordinary shares from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FSE).

On December 11, 2008, the Board of Directors of Alcatel-Lucent decided to delist Alcatel-Lucent’s ordinary shares from the FSE.

This decision takes into account the small trading volumes, in recent years, of Alcatel-Lucent shares on the FSE compared to the total trading volumes of Alcatel-Lucent shares globally. The Board of Directors concluded that the costs of maintaining Alcatel-Lucent’s listing and registration in Germany are disproportionate to the benefits obtained by Alcatel-Lucent and its shareholders as a whole. The impact of the delisting from the FSE on local investors should be limited in light of investors’ access to other major stock exchanges such as Euronext Paris, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the London Stock Exchange, where Alcatel-Lucent is listed.

Subject to the FSE’s approval, the delisting should be completed by May 2009.

The delisting will not have any impact on business activities of Alcatel-Lucent in Germany.
