Huawei Receives iF Design Award for its Femtocell Products

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. (“Huawei”), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions worldwide, today announced that its three femtocell products have won the iF Design Award – internationally recognized as the most prestigious award of its kind.

Huawei’ s three femtocell solutions were chosen from a field of 2,808 products submitted by 1,025 contestants in 39 different countries – a clear demonstration of Huawei’ s leadership in femtocell design and innovation.

“Winning the iF Design Award is the most recent of many successes in the past few years as we have developed and deployed femtocell technology worldwide in partnership with our customers,” said Mr. Jiang Wangcheng, president of Huawei UMTS product line. “This is a strong endorsement of Huawei’ s strength as a global femtocell end-to-end provider and we are honored that our femtocell solutions have been selected for such a prestigious award.”

Huawei’ s femtocell is a portable wireless access device that connects 3G mobile handsets directly to a standard broadband DSL or cable service to provide enhanced mobile voice and data coverage in the home and office environment. Femtocell products are particularly useful for areas where access would otherwise be limited or unavailable.

Huawei’ s femtocell products are widely recognized for their quality, reliability, intuitive use, and new-generation aesthetics. For example, the ethernet cable and power cable have been combined together for simplicity, and the cable connector can adjust 180o for maximum flexibility. Huawei’ s Femtocell solution has applications for streaming video, IPTV, video conferencing and mobile broadband and it is a critical tool for operators to implement a full-service operation strategy in this new era of network convergence.

Huawei has deployed the world’ s first femtocell commercial network for StarHub in Singapore, as well as a total of 21 pre-commercial and trial networks throughout the world.
