LAS VEGAS, NV . – 2009 CES (Booth #: Renaissance Presidential Suite) - Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today unveiled the TeraStation Duo and the TeraStation III, Buffalo’s newest, most feature-rich SMB network storage solutions. Offered with higher capacities, enhanced backup speeds, hot spare and hot swap capabilities, the newly designed TeraStation Duo and TeraStation III are built to answer all the network storage needs of small-to-medium sized businesses.

The latest TeraStation devices include features that support dependable backup, eco-conscious power management, as well as enhanced business and reliability features. With higher capacities, new TeraStation devices allow users to transfer digital content at faster rates to quickly secure and backup larger files on multiple servers.

The TeraStation Duo includes a two-drive bay and like the TeraStation III, it includes new, dependable backup features such as replication, support for Mac’s Time Machine and hot spare for uninterrupted operation. Both devices continue to offer Buffalo’s unique Web Access feature for remote access to all data stored on the devices via a web browser from anywhere in the world. For added reliability, the new TeraStations include two Ethernet ports and internal flash boot. For a more eco-friendly approach to electronics, Buffalo’s latest NAS devices offer unique power management features, which reduce power consumption by 66% while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions. These power management features include a scheduled power management system with three timers, allowing for automatic shut down during non-business hours. The devices also include hard drive spin-down, which saves energy when drives are not in use.

To better function within the work environment, both the TeraStation Duo and the TeraStation III include hot swappable drives for continued use even in the unlikely event of drive failure. The devices also include disk encryption for ultimate protection; a controlled fan with a thermal sensor for optimal cooling; NFS and Active Directory. Other features include cartridge-mounted HDD, print server functionality, RAID5, LCD status display.

Pricing and Availability

The TeraStation III and TeraStation Duo are backed by a limited one-year warranty that includes toll-free 24/7 technical support. The TeraStation III will be available in January at estimated street prices of $1,299.99 for the 2TB (TS-X2.0TL/R5), and $2,299.99 for the 4TB (TS-X4.0TL/R5). The TeraStation Duo will be available in January at estimated street prices of $319.99 for the 1TB (TS-W1.0L/R1) and $399.99 for the 2TB (TS-W2.0L/R1).
