January 5, 2009 – Uniondale, New York -- Mark & Associates, P.C., a leading nationwide personal injury law firm, announces the launch of two new websites designed to help victims of the asthma inhalers Serevent and Foradil, which have been linked to deadly and severe injuries in some users.

The sites, www.sereventattorney.com and www.foradilattorney.com, offer victims of the popular brands of asthma drugs free initial legal consultations. Children, the elderly and other users have suffered severe respiratory distress and other life-threatening side effects after taking the drugs. Many qualify for financial compensation for their medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages.

Mark & Associates, P.C. continues to receive and evaluate injury claims from people who were injured after taking Serevent and Foradil. Injured parties can request a free legal consultation by completing the submission form on www.sereventattorney.com or www.foradilattorney.com or by calling Mark & Associates, P.C. at 1-866-50-RIGHTS (1-866-507-4448).

FDA Issues Warning
In December 2008, an advisory panel formed by the FDA to help the agency evaluate the safety of certain types of drugs issued a warning about Foradil and Serevent. The panel said the risks of asthma-related death and complications in certain patients outweighed the benefits of using the drugs when compared to other types of asthma medications.
An estimated 22 million people in the United States, including 6.5 million children, suffer from asthma. About six million of those people take drugs called long-acting beta agonists (LABAs), such as Serevent and Foradil.
Surprisingly, the panel found that Advair, a more widely used and controversial asthma drug that has been the focus of FDA warnings in the past, did not produce the same life-threatening complications as Serevent or Foradil. Advair includes a corticosteroid and has largely replaced Serevent, Foradil, and other LABAs as an asthma treatment.
