France’s Axione selects Alcatel-Lucent’s solutions to help bridge region’s Digital Divide

Paris- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that it has been selected by Axione — a company of Bouygues Construction specializing in the management of local public broadband services for telecom operators and local communities — to further develop its networks across France. Alcatel-Lucent will provide its Ethernet, IP/MPLS and Fiber to the home (FTTH) technologies as well as professional services including project management, network design, installation, integration and maintenance, enabling Axione to offer high-speed triple play services in 11 departments and cities across the country through public service outsourcing contracts.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Ethernet and IP/MPLS solution will enable Axione to offer highly reliable communication services such as Virtual Leased Lines (VLL) and Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) to its business customers. The IP/MPLS network also forms the platform for additional advanced services with minimal further investment.

In addition, Alcatel-Lucent will deliver fully tested, integrated, high-performance Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network solutions.
