Humor Writer Tests the Waters for “Blooks” with the Publication of

“I’m 50 — Now What?”

Independent Publisher Offers Award for this New Writing Genre

Jamesburg, NJ — January 23, 2006 — Noreen Braman enters the new world of “blooks” – books created from or based on blogs — with the publication of her 2005 blog based on her experience as a woman turning 50 in today’s world. Inspired by this new genre of writing and spurred on by the possibility of winning an award (www.blookerprize.com) Braman used her own chronicle of 2005 to become the “blauthor” of her first “blook.”

I’m 50 — Now What? takes the reader along on a bumpy ride, as Braman uses her blog to “whine and complain” about reaching this dubious milestone. Admitting that she may suffer from “multiple-genre disorder,” Braman has previously published both humor and horror, poetry and opinion pieces, with the style and tone I’m 50 — Now What? reflecting a little bit of all these. Braman not only reflects on her own inner ups and downs dealing with her 50th year, but also a host of current events from sexist remarks by the President of Harvard to a team of scientists being outwitted by a single rat.

Braman self-published the book not only to capture her blog in a permanent fashion for family and friends, but also to share the experience with the legions of baby-boomer women now going through the same transition. As a member of the AATH (Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor – headquartered in Princeton, NJ) Braman states “I learned that some really serious personal issues can be dredged up by these types of transitional life milestones – and that humor – something that has always helped me – is recognized as the help that might get someone over the bumps in the road.” Noreen Braman is an award winning writer with works in several anthologies, including the recently released “Stories of Strength” - a collection whose profits will go to help the victims of recent natural disasters (www.storiesofstrength.com) Information about the “blook” and other work by Noreen Braman can be found at www.noreensdigitaldreams.com or at www.lulu.com/NoreenBraman
