Over 850 new toys and more than $12,000 presented to Marine Corps representatives
RESTON, Va.—Sallie Mae employees gave toys and donations to help make the season a little brighter for hundreds of local needy children by supporting Toys for Tots. More than 850 new toys and $12,000 were presented to Marine Corps representatives at a special ceremony at the company’s headquarters.

Toys for Tots is a Marine Corps effort that has been delivering, for more than 60 years, shiny, new toys and a message of hope at the holidays to needy youngsters to motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. Local program coordinators will distribute the toys to area needy children through the help of welfare organizations, church groups, and other local community agencies.

“We are so grateful for the contributions of Sallie Mae and its employees,” said Staff Sergeant Rodrigo Guzman. “In a year when money is tight for many local families, these gifts will go a long way toward making the season brighter for hundreds of area children.”

The Toys for Tots program strives to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable natural resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
