University Eliminates Tuition for Knights of Columbus

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – In an effort to assist prospective adult college students in these tough economic times Andrew Jackson University announced it will sponsor tuition for members of the Knights of Columbus and their families. As the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization, the Knights are known for their charitable giving and family support. “With all that the Knights have done for others, our university feels that it is time to assist those who wish to attain a college degree in these tough economic times,” stated Andrew Jackson University technology coordinator Jarrod Morgan, himself a Third Degree Knight.

University president Don Kassner said any current Knight, their spouse and adult children qualify for the AJU sponsored tuition program. Standard tuition rates of $750 per course are waived and the only cost to the student is a modest semester administrative fee once they are enrolled. The administrative fee of $350 ($400 for graduate students) covers the instructor and technology expenses while providing the student with as many as four courses, all provided online, per semester. As an example, Kassner said that a student enrolling in one of the school’s three master’s degree programs could earn the degree for less than $3000, including administrative, application, enrollment and exam fees. To further help Knights and their families afford a college degree, the fees can even be paid over time, said Kassner.

Why this special program for the Knights of Columbus? “Three reasons,” said Kassner. “One, it’s Christmas and we have the spirit of the season. Two, with the economy the way it is many are concerned about their livelihood and are eager to better themselves, but can’t afford the high cost of college. The other reason is that Jarrod, our CEO and I were all raised Catholic and know how the Knights support families and what that support means to America during times like these,” Kassner stated. “We wanted to do what we could to help, and thought that groups affiliated with religious organizations would be a good place to start. It also helped that our Jarrod Morgan was a Knight,” Kassner concluded.

Andrew Jackson University (www.aju.edu) offers eleven all-online degree programs in business, communication, criminal justice, psychology, health care management, and public administration. The university is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the DETC (www.detc.org), an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and is licensed to award degrees worldwide.

Members of the Knights of Columbus or their family members interested in the sponsored tuition program should visit the university website, e-mail admissions@aju.edu, or call 800-429-9300, option 1. Members of other organizations affiliated with religious or service groups interested in arranging sponsored tuition for their members should contact Andrew Jackson University president Don Kassner directly at 205-451-2072 or president@aju.edu .
