Rhodia’s Technyl® A 218W V30 Grade Obtains W270 Certification Becoming the Reference Material for Applications in Contact with Drinking Water

WEBWIRE

Lyon , France – Rhodia has received the W270 certification regarding aquatic micro organisms for its Technyl® A 218W V30 grade. This essential standard for industries producing applications in contact with drinking water completes Rhodia’s existing range approved for food and water contact delivered by European and American regulatory authorities. Technyl® A 218W V30, a 30% Glass Fibre reinforced polyamide 6.6, is already known for its outstanding hydrolysis resistance and its excellent mechanical performances.

The W270 certification, awarded by the Technologiezentrum Wasser (TZW) - which is the reference for water biological analysis, - rewards this grade for having passed successfully a series of stringent tests regarding the micro organism culture in an aquatic environment.

Specifically developed for applications in contact with water, Technyl® A 218W V30 already complied with drinking water standards WRAS*, DGVW*, ACS * and NSF*

• Taste and odour tests

• Water limpidity tests

• Migration tests

And also with food approved standards from European authorities (EU Directive 2002/72/EC – 2004/19/EC) and American (FDA 21 CFR 177.1500 , 178.3297 )

• Food approval status of all additives used in the formulation

* Regulatory certifications are available upon request.

Technyl® A 218W V30 shows a superior hydrolysis resistance to standard polyamide 6.6 glass filled grades demonstrated by the absence of glass fibres appearing near the surface even after more than 2,500 hours of ageing.

In addition, after 10,000 hours in an aqueous environment heated up to 95°C, Technyl® A 218W V30 also preserves up to 75% of its excellent mechanical properties – more than 15% higher than traditional materials.

Available in black and natural grades, Technyl® A 218W V30 also offers very good surface aspect.

Rhodia’s Technyl® A 218W V30 has been successfully homologated for use in customer’s various end-use applications and is particularly designed for use in heating systems, pumps and valves and similar applications.

* Water Regulations are national requirements for the design, installation and maintenance of plumbing systems. Their main purpose is to prevent the contamination of drinking water.
