A New Resin Wax Technology for Distinctive, Multifunctional Performance

Midland, MI– An innovative, patented silicone resin technology from Dow Corning offers a variety of unique performance and sensory capabilities to color cosmetics and skin care products. Dow Corning® SW-8005 C30 Resin Wax combines the physical and chemical characteristics of silicone wax with silicone resin.

The new silicone resin wax was designed as a rheology and texture modifier for oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions as well as anhydrous gels. It can also be used as a structuring agent for sticks, especially lipsticks.

It also is responsible for improved coverage, color intensity and uniformity in color cosmetic formulations,” Ms. Van Reeth said. “The wax gives a rich appearance and texture to creams, but at the same time, they spread easily with a non-greasy feel. This versatile ingredient can even be used to enhance eyelash coating and curve retention for mascara formulations.”

The semi-occlusive, high melting point wax (66°C) has been assigned the INCI designation C30-45 alkyldimethylsilyl polypropylsilsesquioxane.
