U-Tapao Flights To Continue

WEBWIRE

Singapore Airlines will continue its twice-daily flights between U-Tapao and Singapore till Friday, with a decision to be taken later in the week about whether the flights will continue into the weekend.

In addition, SilkAir is increasing its capacity on the Phuket route for the rest of this week and into the weekend to help meet demand from those who have travelled over land to leave Bangkok.

By the end of this week, Singapore Airlines and SilkAir will have injected over 15,000 seats into and out of Thailand to help customers stranded by the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Singapore Airlines is suggesting those seeking to leave Thailand who are able to travel overland to Phuket should contact the Airline to book a seat from there, rather than trying to use U-Tapao. The facilities at U-Tapao are struggling to cope with very high demand, and this is causing delays to flights.

Any customers in Thailand who have not yet contacted Singapore Airlines and who are trying to make arrangements to leave should call Singapore Airlines on +66-2 353 6000 or +65 6223 8888 and provide contact details, so the Airline can try to accommodate their need to travel within the next few days. Customers are advised to prepare for delays at airports given the congestion.

Meantime, Singapore Airlines confirms the Boeing 777-200 that was on ground in Bangkok when the airport was seized by protestors returned to Singapore last night. The flight was not allowed to carry passengers.
