PARIS, France . – Star Alliance has opened a First and Business Class Lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport. The 850 square metre facility is the largest of its kind in Terminal 1 and offers space for more than 200 customers.

The lounge is available to First and Business Class customers as well as Star Alliance Gold Card holders travelling from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport - Terminal 1 on the following Star Alliance member airlines: Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, EGYPTAIR, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, TAP Portugal, THAI, Turkish Airlines, US Airways and regional member carriers Adria Airways and Croatia Airlines.

“The Star Alliance Lounge at Charles de Gaulle Terminal 1 is one more example of how collaboration in the alliance can lead to improvements for the customer while at the same time allow our member carriers to reduce their costs,” said Jaan Albrecht, CEO, Star Alliance.

The lounge is located at the highest point of the terminal building – levels 10 and 11 - and provides a panoramic view of the airport and the city of Paris. It is open daily from 05.00 to 23.00 hours and offers a relaxed atmosphere on two levels. The upper level provides space for 33 First Class customers while the main level features an area that seats up to 180 for Business Class and Star Alliance Gold customers, and a quiet zone for passengers to relax in lounge chairs and cocoon-like armchairs.

Customers are offered a wide range of complimentary drinks and can choose from a selection of international hot and cold menus. Business Centre work stations are located on both levels and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the lounge. Shower facilities, state-of-the-art television screens and a wide selection of international newspapers and magazines round off the service.

The lounge at Charles de Gaulle Airport, Terminal 1 is among three other Star Alliance lounges, which are located at London Heathrow Terminal 1, at Los Angeles’ Tom Bradley International Terminal and at Nagoya’s Centrair Airport.

The Star Alliance Lounge at Charles de Gaulle is an integral part of the “Move under one Roof” strategy which will see the majority of Star Alliance member carriers serving this airport move to Terminal 1 by the end of 2009.

In total, 19 Star Alliance member carriers operate from Paris – CDG, offering 166 daily flights to 36 destinations in 21 countries: Air Canada, Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, EGYPTAIR, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Portugal, THAI, Turkish Airlines, United and US Airways, along with regional member carriers Adria Airways, Blue1 and Croatia Airlines. The choice for customers from CDG will further expand over the next two years, when future members Air India, Continental and TAM join Star Alliance.

Note: Scandinavian Airlines and United will continue to offer their own lounge facilities at CDG Terminal 1. The same is true for Air Canada and Austrian who operate from CDG Terminal 2. SWISS will relocate from CDG Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 in 2009 and will as of then also offer its qualifying customers access to the Star Alliance Lounge.
