Imtech wins orders worth 82 million euro in Spanish industrial market

WEBWIRE

Gouda, the Netherlands - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) is one of the strongest players in the Spanish industrial market. From the oil and gas and steel industries Imtech has recently received medium-sized contracts totalling 82 million euro for shutdowns, expansion, upgrading, maintenance and management. As in other European countries, Imtech is increasingly becoming involved in Spain in innovative initiatives in the market for alternative energy.

Besides providing a wide range of technical services in the buildings market, Imtech is active in Spain with its core activities of industrial assembly, industrial maintenance, industrial shutdowns, and technical upgrading, renovation and industrial services. Imtech is concentrating on the growing oil and gas industry. From ten different sites in southern, central and northern Spain, Imtech serves dozens of large and medium-sized clients. The primary focus is on technical processes in mechanical engineering, but increasingly Imtech is operating, entirely in conformity with its strategy, as well in the field of electrical engineering and instrumentation, for which it has established a competence centre.

Maintenance contract for Cepsa refineries in San Roque, Tenerife and Huelva
Cepsa, the one of the largest Spanish oil and gas company, has contracted Imtech to perform the entire industrial mechanical maintenance at the Cepsa refineries in San Roque, Tenerife and Huelva up to and including 2011. This contract is worth more than 20 million euro.

Upgrading of Cepsa and Repsol refineries in Huelva, San Roque and La Coruña
For a few months now Imtech has been working for Cepsa on the complete mechanical technology for a large multi-year expansion of production capacity at the Reformed Light Napthas (RLN) plant at the Rábina refinery in Huelva. This will raise the annual output of the refinery by 220,000 tonnes of benzene and 75 tonnes of hydrogen. Imtech has also won a contract for the electrical engineering and instrumentation of a part of this expansion. At the Cepsa refineries in San Roque, Imtech is modernising a vacuum unit and carrying out a complex shutdown of a high-tech cracking system as well as providing various maintenance services. Imtech is also carrying out a shutdown of a Fluid Cat Cracking plant (FCC plant) for the oil and gas company Repsol refinery in La Coruña, including the reparation of the furnace.

Alternative energy
Imtech is pursuing further enlargement of its industrial position and is increasingly focusing on the alternative energy market. This strategy is bearing fruit. For Abener, an energy producer that uses solar panels to convert solar energy to electricity, Imtech is upgrading the mechanical processes at the heart of a thermal solar panel plant in San Lucar la Mayor near Seville. Also for Abener Imtech is providing the mechanical erection services for a bio diesel plant in San Roque. For Acciona, Imtech is expanding the thermal solar cell factory La Risca Badajoz. For Isolux, in Castellón, Imtech is developing the mechanical and electrical solutions of a new bio diesel plant. For BP, also situated in Castellón, Imtech is providing an innovative combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

Steel industry
Steel producer Acerinox has contracted Imtech to carry out a major shutdown followed by a maintenance contract for the steel plant at Algeciras in Andalusia. Various maintenance activities are also being carried out for steel producer ArcelorMittal in Madrid.
