The Fashion Industry Comes Together for Changes in their Production

WEBWIRE

After extensive media attention, the fashion industry is starting to increase its responsibility in the production chain. But there are still a lot to do and companies have to start cooperating in order to accomplish real change. Forced labour, too many working hours and over-exploitation of natural resources are still problems that we have to solve.

Now it is time to change attitudes, behavioural patterns and develop methods in order to make our planet a better world. Lack of knowledge and resources are no longer excuses. A Better Choice is now unifying Swedish companies in the fashion industry in order to make sure that things are happening in this creative industry.

A Better Choice is launched on the 4th of December in Stockholm, when companies are gathered to shed the lights on social and environmental consequences of their production from a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) perspective. Ingrid Schullström from Swedish fashion multinational Hennes&Mauritz, Johan Åkerblom from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and trend analyst Cay Bond are invited as speakers during the afternoon.

- H&M welcomes an initiative that takes a wider grip on the sustainability issues in the fashion industry. We see that there is a need of knowledge in our industry regarding how to address CSR questions in the supplier chain, says Ingrid Schullström, CSR Manager at Hennes&Mauritz.
