Providing Insight into Corporate Business Finance Topics

Corporate tax expert Michael DeSimone from the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters will provide insight on practical issues involving the calculation of earnings and profits, as well as the challenges of transparency requirements for international tax accounting at upcoming conferences, hosted by Networking Seminars Inc., in New York.

At the Introduction to International Tax conference on Dec. 3, DeSimone will walk through the computing process during his presentation on Earnings and Profits. “Although calculating earnings and profits is not required each year for returns,” explained Michael DeSimone, Transfer Pricing senior manager, Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters; “when doing proactive planning, you need to know where you stand with earnings and profits to avoid having repatriations reclassified as a return of capital and to ensure the amount of the repatriation is actually qualified as a dividend.”

On Dec. 4, Desimone will speak at the International Tax Update conference to provide guidance in dealing with FAS 109, FIN 48, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements during his presentation on International Tax Accounting and Transparency. “The continued evolution of tax legislation and interpretations is having a dramatic impact on companies’ financial statements,” said DeSimone. “Understanding the interplay is crucial to avoid potential restatement issues.”
