ITT ranks fifth on G.I. Jobs magazine’s 2008 top 50 military-friendly employers list
MCLEAN, Va. – In recognition of its commitment to hiring military veterans, ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) was selected by G.I. Jobs magazine as one of the nation’s top 50 military-friendly employers. The company’s strong military recruiting efforts, high percentage of new military hires and proactive policies that fully support National Guard and Reservists helped ITT to be ranked fifth overall out of nearly 2,500 eligible companies and first among its competitors in the defense and aerospace industry.
“Veterans make up as much as 70-80 percent of our workforce in some locations around the world because military experience provides identifiable and transferable skills that are proven in real world situations,” said Dr. A. John Procopio, vice president and director of human resources at ITT Defense Electronics and Services. “Because of their military experience, veterans are usually aware of international and technical trends that help us to better understand our military customers’ needs and provide them with innovative technologies and services that fully support their missions.”
For military job seekers who want to stay in a career supporting national defense, ITT is an ideal choice, since veterans are well represented in all departments across the company. ITT’s defense products and services include air traffic control systems, advanced communications systems, radar, night vision, space payload systems and satellite instruments, electronic warfare technologies and intelligence systems.
Many of the company’s positions have a direct correlation to jobs that are done in the military, such as logistics, communications, information technology, engineering, equipment repair, vehicle maintenance, food services, security, construction and facility support operations.
