Farmers Will Present a Check to Replace Stolen Tools, Help Build Three Homes for Needy Families and Provide Insurance on the Homes for One Year

LOS ANGELES, Nov 18, 2008 --Farmers Customer Care Vehicle Will Serve Breakfast at the Site

It’s something that should never happen: tools and supplies were stolen from a Habitat for Humanity site in Simi Valley, dashing the hopes of three needy families from moving into their new homes by Thanksgiving. Three single mothers and their combined nine children, ages 4 to 15, were scheduled to move into three single-family Habitat homes on Royal Avenue east of Sequoia Avenue in Simi Valley after the dedication on Nov. 22.

Farmers Insurance Group of Companies(R) Chairman Paul Hopkins, CEO Bob Woudstra, Executive Vice President of Field Operations Jerry Carnahan, and Bill Matlock, California State Executive Director, after learning of the theft, announced that Farmers Insurance will help the needy families by replacing the tools and help to build the three homes.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to help these families,” stated Bill Matlock, Farmers State Executive Director. “When Farmers agents, district managers and employees heard about the theft, they immediately volunteered to be at the site with paint brushes, shovels and hammers, ready to go to work to make sure these families get into their homes by Thanksgiving,” he added.

“Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is so thankful for Farmers Insurance generosity in funding and volunteering at our Simi Valley site,” noted Suzzi Crouch, Development Director, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. “Their actions have not only been an inspiration to the Habitat’s home owners and staff, but also to the entire community.”
