New Romance Novel - ’Every Day a Bird Learns How to Fly’

WEBWIRE

A teenager’s story of a tender relationship with his best friend’s young attractive stepmother. Back in time--back in a small Maryland town in 1958, innocence, love, and adultery clash unexpectedly for two people.

Laced with elements of tenderness, sadness, style, and humor, the novel follows the couple as they struggle to keep a forbidden secret in a very conservative time.

1958 was not particularly eventful for Jimmy Trenton. Everything was taking its normal course. His high school senior year had just begun, he was planning for college, a pretty classmate was taking notice of him, and his best-friend Jason was now spending time with a girl whom Jimmy did not particularly like.

No, it wasn’t eventful for Jimmy, that is, until a familiar 1957 blue and white Ford Fairlane drove up beside him one day after school when he was alone, for an innocent ride home.

The driver made Jimmy nervous. She was a young pretty woman with beautiful green eyes who dressed elegantly, smelled wonderfully, and wore around her neck a chain of hearts that disappeared oh so mysteriously into her blouse.

She was also Jason’s young stepmother, Carol Dulaney. In the next few months Jimmy would see Jason less and less; Carol more and more.

The lady’s 57 Ford, a mysterious gold chain, and a secluded cabin set the stage for the story, the emotional struggle and final dramatic agony-ending climax.

This is Jimmy’s story and he tells it the way it went down.

Midwest Book Review gives it 5 out of 5 stars. “‘Every Day a Bird Learns How to Fly’ is a classic love story.... Jimmy and Carol are stuck in a conflict of love and respect, and have no idea which will win out…a controversial love story,” writes Midwest.
