New Molykote(R) Brand Semi-Dry Lubricants Formulated for Electronic Appliances

Molykote® brand lubricants from Dow Corning has launched a series of semi-dry lubricants specially formulated for use in DVD players, mobile phones, camcorders, digital cameras and other electronic devices. Molykote® L-8011, L-8001, L-8033 and PD-930 are easy to apply and provide a transparent, non-stick coating that is well-suited for use on electronic sliding mechanisms.

“Traditional lubricants are often restricted in their capacity to meet the demands of new technology,” said Joyce Meng, global marketer for Dow Corning’s appliance solutions division. “Molykote semi-dry lubricants provide consistent quality and reliability, while enabling greater design flexibility to meet a variety of electronic appliance application needs.”

Molykote semi-dry lubricants can be used with a variety of elastomer rubbers and plastics and are capable of performing under extreme temperatures of
-60°C to 150°C. Their zero ozone depletion potential makes them more environmentally friendly than comparable lubricants.

“Our semi-dry lubricant series are not only more environmentally friendly, but also more worker-friendly. These lubricants are created with a non-flammable fluoro solvent that allows them to be used at facilities without having to worry about anti-explosion treatments,” added Meng.
