Energy Saving Trust Release Double Glazing Report
In a recent survey welcomed by Local Quoter, the Energy Saving Trust found that double glazing can reduce your heat loss by half. The report goes on to state that this can lead to savings of over £100 a year in energy costs.
Local Quoter, a site which allows customers to compare quotes from several local suppliers, feels that this information should encourage more households to upgrade to double glazing as well as make the additional home improvements focused on reducing energy waste, such as loft conversions.
Energy loss, when added to the problems of condensation, rotting window frames and drafty windows with no locks; it seems that double glazing is an obvious home improvement to make. Installing new windows and doors will also add value to your home and help your HIPS energy efficiency rating when you come to sell your house.
In the current economic climate, it might be worth considering just having your largest windows replaced, or starting on the rooms that you use the most and that are regularly heated.
The report was commissioned by the Energy Saving Trust and is available to view online.
