Motorhome Owners Adjusting to Economy

The latest Campfire Canvass fall/winter survey of RV owners by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), reveals that 29 percent plan to travel more this fall and winter than last year; 56 percent plan to travel the same amount as last year; and 15 percent plan to travel less than last year.

According to RVIA, “Motorhome owners love the RV lifestyle, but just like everyone else, they’re concerned about today’s sagging economy and looking for ways to save money and cut costs. RVers are adjusting to the economy by traveling closer to home and staying longer in one place. By having their “homes on wheels” with them, RV owners say they can stretch their dollars by saving on costly airfares, hotels and restaurant meals.”

On average RV vacations cost much less compared to a traditional vacation where you stay at a hotel and eat-out constantly. RV expert and best-selling author Randall Eaton says, “In this economy the buzz word is save baby save. From eating out less to clipping coupons folks are watching were their money goes, like never before. Many have delayed going on vacation all together but for some there is an alternative. That alternative is packing up the motorhome and heading to some place special and spending some quality time with each other. With gas prices falling below $2 per gallon there is no reason not to take advantage of the RV lifestyle.”
