* Simplicity: Juniper simplifies data center network design with the combination of the EX-, MX- and SRX-series products to consolidate services and data center switching layers resulting in significant capital cost savings. Juniper’s Virtual Chassis technology in the EX 4200 series Ethernet switches combined with line-rate 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) performance on its chassis-based products can significantly reduce the number of interswitch links and the amount of equipment required in the data center by up to half. These chassis-based products include the upcoming EX 8200 series Ethernet switches and current MX-series Ethernet Services Routers with advanced layer 2 and 3 network virtualization.

The Juniper Networks SRX services gateways further consolidate the sprawl of service-specific security appliances in legacy network architectures. A typical security solution requiring more than 12 separate appliances can be reduced to a single platform with the SRX requiring less than one-third the rack space and yet delivering up to six times the performance. By natively integrating and optimizing multiple services into one platform, the SRX gives businesses the flexibility to readily “turn-on” new VPN, firewall and intrusion prevention services without sacrificing performance or security.

* Agility: Juniper enables customers to achieve unmatched carrier-grade reliability and operational agility by streamlining provisioning, management, troubleshooting and maintenance of the data center infrastructure on a single management framework and operating system. The Juniper Networks Network and Security Manager (NSM) is able to manage elements across Juniper’s routing, switching and security portfolio, enabling high-performance businesses to increase security, reduce cost and realize significant operational gains.

For the first time, with JUNOS software, customers can reduce dozens or more complex network operating systems to a single OS across the routing, switching, and network services infrastructure, automating network operations and minimizing complexity and risk while reducing operating costs by up to 25 percent.

Juniper’s J-Care Technical Services, enabled by Advanced Insight Solutions (AIS), effectively puts a technical-support engineer in every device that runs JUNOS software, taking hours or days out of typical response times. Juniper’s proactive technical support streamlines operations across the full routing, switching and network services infrastructure, enabling businesses to significantly lower operating expenses and increase availability.

* Efficiency: Juniper collapses layers and consolidates appliances to make the data center network more efficient to operate and manage. Juniper’s simplified approach can also lower power, cooling and space requirements to significantly reduce customers’ total cost of ownership. A Juniper analysis of a typical mid-sized data center build-out with 3,000 servers and 125Gbps of firewall service processing revealed that a Juniper Data Center Infrastructure Solutions deployment could reduce the number of core networking devices by a factor of five, enabling customers to save up to 52 percent in capital expenditures, up to 44 percent in power, up to 44 percent in cooling and up to 55 percent in rack space in their data center, compared to currently available legacy networks. The significance of such savings can grow as the demand on the data center increases over time.
