Farmers Insurance Partners with Utah Gang Investigator Association (UGIA) and Publishes Parents Handbook

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Nov 05, 2008 -- Recognizing the growing menace of gangs in Utah, Farmers Insurance Group of Companies has partnered with the Utah Gang Investigator Association and Law enforcement agencies through the sponsorship of a parent guidebook to help parents and families who may have children at risk for gang involvement.

“The UGIA is seeking to implement a program that uses a three pronged approach to reducing gang participation in the state. Those three aspects are prevention, intervention, and the traditional suppression,” noted Bruce Champagne, President of The Utah Gang Investigators Association. “The UGIA was in need of a sponsor to help get a parent’s guidebook published and into the hands of families.”

“We are very pleased to partner with the UGIA by publishing the parents guidebook,” stated John Henle, Farmers Utah State Executive Director. “The guidebook contains valuable information on how to recognize if a child is becoming involved in gang activities. The booklet will be ready for distribution at tomorrow’s Power Prevention conference of the Utah Council for Crime Prevention at the West Valley Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City,” he said.

Henle continued, “The guidebook is endorsed by Utah State law enforcement agencies and the educational community. I am very excited about this opportunity that was brought to us through a collaborative effort with Detective Bruce Champagne of the Saratoga Springs Police Department, Farmers agent Nicola Young, Marketing Specialist Johanna Peterson and Farmers Strategic Marketing Manager Randy Rice.”

The guidebook is available at no cost to the public through contacting your local law enforcement agency or the Utah Council for Crime Prevention at
