Harris Corporation Awarded IT Services Contract to Support National Center for Health Statistics

WASHINGTON, DC — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a potential three-year, $5.4 million contract to provide programming support and other IT services to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). As the U.S. government’s principal health statistics organization, NCHS is a unique public resource for information critical to public health and health policy. Harris has provided IT services to NCHS for the past 16 years.

Under the contract, Harris will continue to support activities related to the collection, analysis and dissemination of health statistics. This includes software development; database accessibility, modeling support and data warehousing; quality assurance and control; network and system engineering; data entry; and a range of other services. The contract consists of one base year with two one-year options.

NCHS provides national leadership in the area of collection, analysis and dissemination of national health statistics on vital events and health activities, research in statistical and survey methodology, and technical assistance both nationwide and outside the U.S. The data collected provides information to policy makers in Congress and the Administration, researchers and others in the health community.
