New Editorial Team Named for Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases

New York – Elsevier is honored to announce today that Henry Greenberg, MD, has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases. Dr. Greenberg will be joined by Marrick L. Kukin, MD, and Franz H. Messerli, MD, as Editors. Dr. Greenberg takes over from the Journal’s former editors, the late Michael Lesch, MD, and the late Edmund H. Sonnenblick, MD.

Dr. Greenberg is a leading researcher in clinical trials for various aspects of coronary disease and in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in emerging economies. He has a long association with the New York Academy of Sciences, serving on the Board of Governors for many years and for one term as the board chairman. He currently chairs the Academy’s Human Rights of Scientists Committee. Dr. Greenberg is Associate Director of Cardiology at St.Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City.

Dr. Kukin is Director of the Heart Failure Program at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center and Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. His areas of research include beta blockade and other neurohormonal antagonists in congestive heart failure and the use of inotropic agents in heart failure.

Dr. Messerli is an internationally recognized expert in hypertensive cardiovascular disease and preventive cardiology. He is Director of the Hypertension Program at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, Division of Cardiology, in New York City.
