American Electric Power Seeks Compliance Coal Offers

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) announced today that its American Electric Power Service Corp. (AEPSC) subsidiary is seeking offers for the supply of compliance coal to one or more of its generating stations.

AEPSC is seeking proposals for spot coal deliveries of compliance coal with various specifications by rail or barge beginning in January 2009 and extending up to 12 months. AEPSC also is seeking term proposals for the supply of a minimum of 7,500 tons of compliance coal per month to be delivered by rail or barge beginning in 2009 for three years.

The actual accepted length of all offers will be at AEPSC’s discretion. AEPSC is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted.

Coal Proposal Packages must be received by AEPSC no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.
