WEBWIRE

TOKYO, JAPAN -- 12/27/2004 -- The Tokyo Medical and Dental University has performed international high-speed transmission tests of medical images between the National Cancer Center of Japan and the University of Hawaii using a new fourth-layer security protocol developed by TTT. In comparison with previous SSL or IP-SEC protocols, the tests achieved highly secure transmissions with high end-to-end throughput. The new security protocol can be used in combination with various encryption algorithms and methods of authentication. The successful tests were announced at the 24th Joint Conference on Medical Informatics of Japan. The announcement emphasized that the new protocol promises to provide significantly enhanced communications security, thus addressing a major current social concern.
