Multisite-ERP with Microsoft Dynamics AX for international acting wholesale companies

Standardizing all business procedures across multiple locations while obtaining a central overview of the internal operational and decision-making processes – those were Normfest’s main demands on a new ERP system and important arguments in favor of Microsoft Dynamics AX as new business software and Würth Phoenix as internationally experienced partner for the implementation.

It was vital for the solution to provide the best possible support for Normfest’s growth strategy throughout its business locations, from the headquarter in Germany to its subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Austria. Multi-language and multi-site capabilities were therefore essential preconditions for standardizing business processes. Microsoft Dynamics AX was to be deployed in all branches to ensure uniform processes, with the resulting synergies contributing to greater productivity throughout the group’s business activities. In the course of the project, one single installation for the entire group was realized at Normfest’s headquarters, thus permitting the central control of multi-site processes related to the whole supply chain.

The challenges for the company´s distribution strategy were the accurate modeling of the sales structure and the design of sales pricing functionality. The optimization of the ERP processes with a focus on logistics and disposition were also important aspects of the project. The use of items with a variety of packing units, third party delivery, an automated planning process and the preparation for future pick & pack processing (including case calculation) had to be taken into account.

Bernhard Windrich, Managing Director of Normfest, called the introduction of the system a “dream launch”. For Würth Phoenix, the project was an important step toward setting up a best-practices expertise center for international acting wholesale companies.
