BenQ Honored by Three World-Class Good Design Awards

TAIPEI, TAIWAN.– BenQ announced today that three of the company’s digital lifestyle products have been honored with the world-renowned Good Design Award: the M2200W 16:9 LCD monitor (renamed the M2410HDW), V37 37“ LCD TV, and Joybook P53 were chosen from among 3,023 entries. The Good Design evaluation and commendation system, operated by Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, bestows upon its winners a globally-respected reputation for innovation in design that improves the quality of life while simultaneously advancing society as a whole. This year’s design focus was on ”images of life in the near future and designs that lead the way to next generation lifestyles"

“The addition of these three highly-regarded awards to our current 200+ international honors reaffirms BenQ’s unique design philosophy fusing function and aesthetics to improve life through greater enjoyment and efficiency” said Manfred Wang, Chief Design Officer of BenQ. “Our Lifestyle Design Center has been relentlessly dedicated to designing product for more than just looks, but based on our intensive studies of user behavior, scenario demands, and evolving trends. It is our belief that aesthetics and functionality must complement each other in order to fully promote the alignment of industry and life.”

Styled for simplicity in lifestyle and design, the multimedia M2200W (renamed the M2410HDW) 16:9 LCD monitor meticulously balances high art and high functionality. Based on a smart box-frame design to occupy less space, the display calls attention to its Nature-inspired aesthetics – smooth, clean lines and a high-gloss surface symbolic of free-flowing water. True distinction in design beyond superficial looks is found in the display’s fusion of functionality and form, which does not compromise one over the other. In fact, accenting its sleek uncluttered beauty is a myriad of features that enhance use: a retractable handle, wireless PC connection, and integrated memory card reader and speakers.

A stunning sculpture for the home, the V37 LCD TV is a visual masterpiece in all respects. A spectacular glass surface and intricate crisscross etchings of audio waves lend an awe-inspiring beauty to technology. A subtle blue ambient light emits from the base to create a calming home atmosphere as light and shadow dance across the TV’s gleaming surfaces. Mirroring the product’s exterior beauty is its immaculate picture and audio performance. A slim design makes this 37" LCD TV a perfect fit for almost any space.

The Joybook P53 blends home life with the World Wide Web, both in style and performance. Inspired by modern furniture, the P53 recalls the comfort and relaxation of home – the lid’s leather texture conveys the warmth and coziness of a leather couch. A futuristic flair is found in the lid’s metal band, detailed with patterns that symbolize the constant social connections across cyberspace. Leading technologies promoting a tech-savvy lifestyle deliver on the P53’s design theme, most notably with two internal hard disk drives, and built-in and discreet chipsets for cinema-class graphic performance.

Since the founding of BenQ’s Lifestyle Design Center six years ago, BenQ has accumulated 210 international accolades from the world’s most prominent design forums, including Germany’s iF and red dot, the United States’ IDEA, and Japan’s Good Design organizations.
