PlayTV Lets You Record TV on Your Sony PlayStation 3
The new PlayTV accessory for the PlayStation 3 video game console will allow you you start recording TV shows onto your PS3 just like TiVo, or similar digital television recorders.
Not only is this one of the very best new features of the PS3, its also incredibly cheap when compared to similar alternatives.
Here is a quick overview of the PlayTV to give you a better idea of what it can do:
Start off by connecting your aerial antenna into the PlayTV box. The box includes a USB cable, which you must use to attach the tuner to the PS3. And the final step is to connect your PS3 with your television, either standard or high-definition. Once you’ve completed all those steps, you are on your way to streaming or recording live digital broadcasts.
By going to the “LiveTV” feature, the PS3 TV Tuner makes it possible to access digital air broadcasts. As soon as you activate this feature, you can either rewind, pause, or record these live broadcasts. You can also record one program while viewing another.
The EPG (or Electronic Program Guide) of the Play TV provides you a 7-day schedule listing of programs so you won’t miss the schedules of your favorite program. If you find something you like, you can set the recording for that said program even while you’re away. On the other hand, you get the “Schedule” feature will enables you to search for specific programs and personalize recording options according to your preference.
To access all your program recordings, proceed to the “Library”. You can then sort these items according to date, genre, or time, to make scanning these shows more convenient for you.
If you find that looking through the EPG sounds too much of a hassle, then you can easily search for your specific favorite show using the “Find and Record” option. By typing in a keyword, it will automatically display any program related to your search. Then, choose the show you want and change record settings to however you prefer them.
To cap all these features off, the PlayTV links to your PSP hand held console, allowing you to watch TV anywhere in your house, or in fact anywhere in the world (so long as you have a wireless internet connection).
