TestAmerica is First to be Certified for Low Level Air Testing in the State of New Jersey

TestAmerica’s laboratory in Burlington, Vermont has become the first and only commercial lab to be certified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to perform the new Low Level TO-15 method. The development and certification of this method was pursued in response to new regulatory guidance published by NJDEP to address the need to observe lower concentrations of volatile organic compounds, while tightening quality assurance protocols.

In October 2005, the NJDEP published the “Vapor Intrusion Guidance” that addressed the investigation and mitigation of the risk posed by the vapor pathway in the State of New Jersey.

On April 2, 2007, NJDEP published an update to the primary testing method used to support its Vapor Intrusion program. The update advanced a state requirement for methodology used for the identification of volatile organic compounds in air under the Site Remediation Program. The intent of the method is to reduce reporting limits, while providing a higher degree of data quality, critical for health risk assessments. http://www.nj.gov/dep/oqa/llto15notice200704.htm

In August 2008, TestAmerica was awarded a multi-year contract from the NJDEP for air testing, utilizing the new NJDEP Low Level TO-15 method: “Laboratory Analysis of Air Samples collected from Hazardous Waste Sites”. The contract performance period runs through August 2011. TestAmerica also holds contracts with the NJDEP for CLP (SOM01.2 & ILM05.4) and Drinking Water Analyses.
