SpringStage and Big in Japan Invite Developers to AndroidDevCamp Dallas, October 25, 2008

WEBWIRE

SpringStage, a nationwide startup network, and Big in Japan, the developer of the ShopSavvy™ application for Google Android phones, are joining forces to present the first AndroidDevCamp in Dallas this Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“October 25 is the first Saturday after the release of the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1,” said Alexander Muse, a co-founder of both SpringStage and Big in Japan. “So it’s the perfect time for developers to learn about the open-source Android platform and to begin working on new applications for it. The power of Android isn’t grounded in a particular carrier or handset maker; instead, the power of Android comes from you -- the developer.”

The event will feature presentations on:

-- How to get started on Android;
-- Google’s Android Developers Challenge I and II;
-- Lessons learned in the development of ShopSavvy; and
-- Understanding Android fundamentals.

The event will include breakout sessions where developers can share ideas and form working groups to begin building Android applications.

“We want to have more entrants in the Android Developers Challenge II from Dallas than from any other city,” said Muse. “This event gives us a head start.”

The event will be held in the offices of Architel, a startup incubator, at the Infomart, 1950 Stemmons Freeway, Suite 2022, Dallas, Texas 75207. For more information or to register for the event, visit http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1116168/.

In addition to the Dallas event, SpringStage and Big in Japan are working to assist with the organization of AndroidDevCamp events in other cities worldwide.
