Verizon to Offer FiOS TV - The Only TV Service Delivered Over the Nation’s Most Advanced, All-Fiber-Optic Network Straight to Consumers’ Homes

Residents in five more Delaware County communities are a major step closer to having an innovative, reliable and competitive alternative for their cable television services, thanks to recent votes by officials in the boroughs of Collingdale, Norwood and Lansdowne and the townships of Upper Darby and Darby authorizing Verizon to offer its fiber-optic-powered FiOS TV.

FiOS TV offers consumers a broad range of programming choices and superior picture quality from the only TV service delivered over the nation’s most advanced all-fiber network directly connecting to millions of individual homes and businesses.

The cable franchises cover approximately 49,000 households across the five communities. Verizon plans to begin offering FiOS TV in parts of some of the communities later this year. These most recent franchises bring to 38 the total number of franchises awarded to Verizon by Delaware County municipalities.

“Collingdale, Norwood, Upper Darby, Lansdowne and Darby residents soon will be able to join the fast-growing FiOS revolution in Delaware County,” said Douglas R. Smith, vice president of external affairs, Verizon Pennsylvania. "FiOS TV offers a clear, superior alternative to the incumbent cable provider - powered by our lightning-fast fiber-optic network.

“From ultra-fast download and unmatched upload Internet speeds to outstanding picture quality, FiOS Internet and FiOS TV services will wow Delaware County consumers.”

Verizon currently offers FiOS TV in parts of the townships of Aston, Bethel, Chadds Ford, Concord, Edgmont, Haverford, Lower Chichester, Marple, Middletown, Nether Providence, Newtown, Radnor, Springfield, Thornbury, Upper Chichester, Upper Darby and Upper Providence. FiOS TV also is currently available in parts of the boroughs of Chester Heights, Collindgale, Darby, Folcroft Glenolden, Marcus Hook, Media, Morton, Parkside, Ridley Park, Rose Valley, Rutledge, Sharon Hill, Swarthmore, Trainer and Upland.
