IBC Booth 7.B31 - At IBC Gefen demonstrates the use of common cabling and new wireless technologies to deliver high definition video well beyond its specified limitation. Ideal for extending video and audio to remote displays for digital signage, entertainment, rental and staging and similar applications, Gefen’s new extenders offer flexibility and reliability for system integrators.

The HDMI v1.3 CAT-5 IR Extender uses two CAT-5 cables to deliver 1080p full HD up to 50 meters in distance. It is HDCP-compliant and enables installers to streamline their cabling while ensuring a reliable remote performance. IR back channel offers source control through the remote display.

The HDMI v1.3 RS-232 IR Extender delivers HDMI v1.3 signals with IR back channel and RS-232 control up to 50 meters using two CAT-5 cables. 1080p full HD with deep color support and multi-channel digital audio including Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio are delivered to the remote display. Extended RS-232 signals allow users to adjust display features, control parameters and power on and off from afar.

The Wireless for HDMI Extender transmits high definition video and audio transmitted in the HDMI format up to 10 meters in distance using an ultra wideband (UWB) chipset from Tzero Technologies. This cable-free extender allows hi-def displays to be placed anywhere, including locations where wiring is difficult to run. This product also provides a three-way auto switch, supporting two HDMI and one component with audio sources, each output in the HDMI format.

The HDMI over RGB Extender allows legacy video systems using 5BNC coax cabling to upgrade the video and audio source and display to the expanded HDMI v1.3 format while leaving the existing cable infrastructure intact. 1080p full HD resolutions with multi-channel audio is transmitted up to 100 meters in distance with no signal delay, making it perfect for long-distance installations and retrofits.

The HDMI over Fiber Extender uses one fiber optic cable to transmit next generation HDMI v1.3 signals up to 500 meters in distance with support for deep colors and the entire scope of the expanded HDMI format. Sender and receiver units are placed at local and remote locations, connecting the source to its display over one fiber cable run using SC connections.

The HDMI over Coax Extender works through sender and receiver units that deliver high definition resolutions to 1080i with multi-channel audio up to 300 meters from the source using a single coax cable. It features a Pulse-LINK chipset that allows an existing coax infrastructure to be used, providing an attractive alternative to those installing hi-def video systems in a building already wired with coax cables. High quality signal extension and system reliability make this ideal for anyone seeking to utilize an already existing cable infrastructure.

To compliment its selection of wired extenders, Gefen is releasing a selection of wall plates available in different colors to add the final professional touch to audio/video installations. These new wall plates support today’s popular extension formats including DVI, HDMI and CAT-5 cable. A combination DVI/HDMI wall plate is also available.
