Beverly Hills, CA — Showcasing nine decades of film-related artwork, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the exhibition “Hirschfeld’s Hollywood” from January 4 through January 31 in the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery at Film Society of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.

The exhibition features 20 drawings, collages, paintings, posters and motion picture ephemera. “I lived in the movies,” Al Hirschfeld had said of his early years in Hollywood.

Earlier in his career, Hirschfeld worked in art and publicity departments at Goldwyn, Universal, Fox, First National and Warner Bros. He’s best known for his witty and stylish celebrity caricatures that appeared in the New York Times from the 1950s until his death at the age of 99 in 2003.

“Hirschfeld’s Hollywood” is a traveling exhibition adapted from a popular installation of the same name that ran for three months at the Academy in Beverly Hills in 2001-2002, and has since toured to the Berlin Filmmuseum, Frankfurt Filmmuseum and most recently the National Theater in London.

The Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery is open daily from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 1-888-778-7575.
