Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky Makes Donation To Community Support Organizations

CINCINNATI - Three Cincinnati community support organizations received donations totaling $150,000 from Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky to assist customers experiencing difficulty coping with the aftermath of the storm that struck the region on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008.

The Freestore Foodbank has been awarded $50,000 to support outreach programs that provide food and clothing to people in need or who have been affected by natural disasters.

Cincinnati-Hamilton Community Action Agency and People Working Cooperatively have been awarded a total of $100,000 to be used for electrical and minor home repairs for seniors, disabled and lower-income homeowners throughout the region.

Cincinnati-Hamilton Community Action Agency assists individuals and families with housing, emergency shelter, transportation and weatherization. People Working Cooperatively provides minor home repair and energy conservation services such as home weatherization to low-income individuals.

“The devastation from the remnants of Hurricane Ike has strained many families in our community,” said Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky President Sandra Meyer. “We hope the contributions to these organizations will help alleviate the tremendous need for food, electrical repairs and other critical necessities.”
