Dow to Focus on Innovation and Service to Oil and Gas Industry Through Launch of New Global Business Unit

Sharpening its focus on customers and markets, The Dow Chemical Company today announced the launch of Dow Oil & Gas, a new business unit created to deliver innovative product, technology and service solutions to the oil and gas industry. Dow Oil & Gas will serve customers from the oil well to the gas pump, providing offerings for the exploration and production, refining and gas processing and fuel transport market segments.

“The formation of this new business harnesses Dow’s global reach and broad portfolio of offerings for the oil and gas industry, providing a single focal point for collaboration as we focus on delivering the innovation and technical support that our customers need to succeed in increasingly challenging operating conditions,” said Janet Giesselman, vice president and general manager of Dow Oil & Gas.

Though Dow has served the oil and gas industry for decades, the new business unit represents a realignment of the Company’s capabilities to address the market more effectively; providing dedicated resources to work closer with customers, understand and deliver against their unique challenges and opportunities. Dow Oil & Gas will be based in Houston, Texas.

“As the global demand for energy increases exponentially, adding to the world’s proven reserves by extracting more oil from existing reservoirs is critical,” said Giesselman. “Dow Oil & Gas is committed to the development of new technologies for enhanced oil recovery, along with offerings to make fracture, stimulation and transport to market more effective and efficient.”

The business will also look to provide specialized technologies and chemical formulations for unconventional drilling conditions and fuel transport, such as high temperature and high pressure.

Dow Oil & Gas will build upon the Company’s proven line of gas treating products and technologies to more holistically address the needs of refinery and gas processing customers, including improved environmental performance.

In the fuel transport segment, Dow Oil & Gas will offer solutions that allow oil and natural gas pipeline and vessel customers to operate at higher temperatures and deeper water depths, and to reduce internal corrosion and freeze-ups.
