Harris Corporation to Debut its Dynacast Internet Broadcasting Solution at IBC2008

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, (IBC2008, Stand 7.G20) — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will debut and demonstrate its Dynacast™ interactive Internet broadcasting solution at the 2008 International Broadcasting Convention (IBC). This expansion of the Harris product portfolio introduces an innovative tool for broadcasters to engage their audiences with a multi-distribution media environment.

DynaCast™ allows media companies to provide a unique combination of broadcast and Internet content — enhancing the viewer experience and increasing the targeted nature of commercial spots and branding campaigns. DynaCast™ enables broadcasters to deliver Web URLs directly to participating viewers, without the need for third-party distribution agreements. Because Dynacast™ is software-based from broadcast to delivery, no additional hardware is required, making this solution simple to deploy.

The innovative DynaCast platform allows for a two-screen, enhanced TV and radio model in which content distributors can send Web pages synchronized with a broadcast to the audience’s Internet browsers — enabling a rich, interactive Web experience. During a program, Web URLs providing relevant, targeted information such as statistics, bios, recipes, song lyrics and product information are automatically sent to the consumer’s PC for display. For example, when a soccer player scores a goal, the URL can display his statistics, or when a national automotive spot is run, the Web page of a local dealer for that brand can be simultaneously displayed in the PC browser. Audiences can access the Dynacast synchronized Web content during the scheduled airing of the show or during playback from a Personal Video Recorder (PVR), VOD server, or DVD.

“We are pleased to introduce Dynacast™ to the European market at IBC, because it presents an exciting opportunity for broadcasters, advertisers and viewers,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. “Dynacast™ automatically pushes content-related Web pages to viewers so they have desired resources at their fingertips, when they want it, for a ’hands-free’ interactive television experience.”

Dynacast™, powered by Harris® DESKTOPBOX™ technology, has been nominated for The Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards 2008. The product is named on the CSI 2008 “awards shortlist” in the category of “Best Interactive TV Technology or Application.” The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony that will take place during IBC.

Harris Broadcast Communications provides products, systems, and services that deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire media delivery chain. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
