SunGard’s CSA Java Platform Validated by Sun Microsystems

SunGard received validation from Sun Microsystems for its Common Services Architecture (CSA) Java platform, part of SunGard’s Infinity*, a software development and on-demand delivery environment that includes a broad range of reusable, composite application services and tools, available on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis (http://www.sungard.com/infinity).

Amir Halfon, chief technology officer, Global Financial Services Industry group at Sun Microsystems, said, “SunGard’s CSA core architecture represents the industry-accepted, best organization for enterprise-class, Web-based distributed applications at this time. SunGard’s use of design principles such as modularity, decomposition, factoring, encapsulation, abstraction, decoupling and interface-oriented design has resulted in a code that is extensible, reusable, supportable and understandable. SunGard’s process is well-documented and outlines the procedures for building and testing CSA-based services in a clear and concise manner.”

The Sun validation provides confirmation that SunGard’s Java technology adheres to industry best practices. Since its inception, SunGard’s CSA Java developers and application experts have worked in conjunction with Sun’s architecture to craft SunGard’s Java platform, or a sample standard implementation used to help others implement their own versions of the standard.

“The use of Sun’s Java technology, as well as the Spring, Hibernate and Struts application frameworks, were chosen for their ability to optionally work atop various application infrastructure platforms, including application servers and Web servers, and their representation of good design practice,” said Martin Goulet, senior vice president of SunGard’s CSA Java architecture. “Sun’s validation of our Java platform helps to authenticate SunGard’s CSA as a dependable platform that helps reduce cost, time-to-market and business risk.”
