Dominion Virginia Power Line Crews Finishing Hanna Restoration Work Today

WEBWIRE

Dominion Virginia Power crews worked through the night to restore electric service to all but 2,000 of the 200,000 customers affected by tropical storm Hanna. Crews began completing the remaining restoration work early this morning and will wrap up this evening.

The largest number of outages occurred in Hampton Roads. The storm’s winds and heavy rain also heavily affected northeastern North Carolina, Central Virginia and parts of Northern Virginia. Falling trees and limbs caused most of the damage, in many cases forcing tree crews to clear debris before line crews could restore power.

Customers without electricity can call the Dominion Customer Service Center at toll free 1-888-667-3000 to learn when their homes will have power restored on Sunday.

Customers are reminded to stay clear of downed power lines and report them by calling the same number.

Dominion began preparing for Tropical Storm Hanna days ago, mobilizing repair crews and dispatching them with bucket trucks and other equipment to areas expected to be hardest hit. Crews were mobilized well before the storm arrived and began making damage assessments and repairs at first light Saturday.
