Customers and patients should check on a store’s status as some pharmacies have not opened, or regular operating hours are affected by curfews. Store location information is available by calling 1-800-RITEAID (1-800-748-3243) and pressing “0” or by visiting www.riteaid.com. The website features a daily updated listing of opened and closed Rite Aid stores in the hurricane-affected areas.

Many Rite Aid stores are open today in areas still without power, thanks to generators and diesel fuel to run them that the company had stored outside the affected region. Additional supplies also are on hold for distribution where needed. Mobile units will be installed if necessary.

Tomorrow a relief team of Rite Aid associates, including store cashiers and pharmacists, will travel from unaffected areas of Louisiana and Alabama to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday in stores in areas that have been impacted and to help reopen additional stores. The company already is making preparations for Tropical Storm Hanna similar to the preparations made for Hurricane Gustav.

Residents displaced by the Hurricane can visit any open Rite Aid in any city in any state for their prescriptions because the company’s satellite-linked computer network assures a complete customer prescription history at any Rite Aid store. Because of the state of emergency, Rite Aid pharmacies also can access prescription information for patients who do not normally get their prescriptions at Rite Aid.
