ChemImage Advances Raman Chemical Imaging Expertise at FACSS 2008

WEBWIRE

Pittsburgh, PA (ChemImage Corp)– ChemImage, a leader in Chemical Imaging technology, is pleased to announce our continuing support of the spectroscopy community at this year’s Federation of Chemical and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) 2008 annual meeting (Sept. 28 - Oct. 2, 2008, Reno NV).

Dr. Patrick Treado and Dr. Matthew Nelson will provide a workshop on Raman Chemical Imaging Technologies and Methods. This workshop will highlight the rapidly maturing discipline that involves the integration of digital imaging with molecular spectroscopy, relying on Raman, fluorescence, visible, NIR and IR absorption/reflectance techniques. The course will also cover intricate image and spectral processing techniques that may be applied to the Chemical Imaging data to produce various qualitative and/or quantitative parameters associated with complex samples.

Dr. Nelson will also moderate a Raman Imaging symposium focused on developments in instrumentation and applications. This symposium includes presentations from Raman instrument vendors, government and pharmaceutical scientists, FDA scientists, and academic researchers. These experts will present the following papers: Towards Automation in the Characterization of Nanostructured Materials and Devices, Biological Threat Detection with Raman Chemical Imaging, Resolution Targets for Chemical Imaging of Pharmaceutical Products, Chemical Imaging of Pharmaceutical Granules by Raman Global Illumination and Near-Infrared Mapping Platforms, and Raman Imaging of Sub-Cellular Organization, and Uptake of Drug Delivery Systems into Cells.

ChemImage will also participate in the FACSS Exhibition, show casing the CONDOR™ Hyperspectral Imaging System. ChemImage emphasizes wavelength scanning approaches to Chemical Imaging which enable rapid image acquisition with diffraction-limited spatial resolution. In wide-field Chemical Imaging, thousands of spectra are simultaneously collected from a field of view. The spectral data is used to generate chemically-specific images in the form of a hyperspectral datacube containing wavelength, intensity, x, y and z- spatial information. Representatives from ChemImage will be available during this time to provide information and answer questions about Chemical Imaging.
