NETGEAR’s Wireless Cable Voice Gateway Selected as Flagship Device to Support Majority of ISP Customers in Portugal

SAN JOSE, Calif. – August 2008 – NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR) today announced that ZON TVCabo, a subsidiary of ZON Multimedia and Portugal’s largest triple-play operator, has selected NETGEAR’s Wireless Cable Voice Gateway (CVG834G) for its Internet customer base. This relationship furthers NETGEAR’s impressive service provider growth in Europe, as ZON TVCabo serves a significant territory with over 2.8 million homes passed.

“This important relationship with ZON TVCabo reflects a significant step in our broadband cable business growth,” stated Patrick Lo, NETGEAR’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We’re seeing accelerating interest from service providers who have recognized the significant benefits of our new, highly integrated and individually customized products. We have a successful, field-proven record of working with broadband companies worldwide, and we’re thrilled to have been chosen by ZON TVCabo. Our Wireless Cable Voice Gateway (CVG834G) fully satisfies their wireless eMTA technical requirements and manageability needs — delivering the highest possible value while minimizing their total cost of ownership.”

NETGEAR’s innovative Wireless Cable Voice Gateway (CVG834G) opens the door for service providers to support a wide variety of new services. Combining NETGEAR’s field-proven wireless cable modem router with EuroPacketCable™ VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology, the gateway delivers all the capabilities of a EuroDOCSIS 2.0 cable modem, 2-port voice terminal adapter, 802.11g wireless access point, firewall, router, and 4-port Ethernet switch with Plug-and-Play™ USB connectivity. Customers can enjoy the broadest spectrum of multimedia, including IP telephony and complete network cable access with double firewall (SPI+NAT) protection for instant high-speed Web access, file sharing, multimedia conferencing, video streaming, interactive gaming, and MP3 downloading – all without the need for several external devices. The CVG834G received EuroDOCSIS 2.0 and EuroPacketCable 1.0 Certification in EuroCableLabs Certification Wave #24.

Six products in one, NETGEAR’s integrated Wireless Cable Voice Gateway (CVG834G) minimizes the clutter of multiple networking devices and the jumble of wires. It is designed to make network setup easy for the consumer, avoid the hassle of getting multiple devices to work together, and simplify control and management of the home network environment.

“Our goal is to continue increasing the value of our services to our customers so it’s essential for us to choose the right technology solutions,” stated Rodrigo Costa, chief executive officer of ZON Multimedia. “There are many networking companies out there. We chose NETGEAR because they offer the flexible, economical and advanced solutions that are ideal for our customers, and because the company enjoys a sterling reputation amongst European service providers. NETGEAR’s willingness to customize specific features for the CVG834G was another key factor in our decision.”
